It has never been easier to sell online than ever before, but that ease has also created more competition. So how do you stand out in a crowded environment like an online marketplace?
One way to make your mark is to build a strong brand. This may sound daunting, but don’t worry we have a few tips that can help you shine in any marketplace.
Have a distinctive brand name
It all starts with the name. It is one of the first things customers will see about you and it’s the first interaction potential customers have with you. It doesn’t have to fancy or gimmicky, just make it unique and your own. Adding a good logo is also a plus. It helps give your brand more appeal and credibility.
Use creative packaging
We mentioned this in our last blog: Tips for Selling on a Marketplace. But creative packaging not only builds your brand but it also provides your customer a unique and special experience. Now your creative packaging can be anything. It could be the style of box you ship in, how it is packaged, maybe each item shipped comes in a customer designed package, or you could just simply add a hand written thank you note. Whatever you decide to do have fun with it and give your customer something they will remember.
Use high-quality photos for products
We are all visual creatures and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. When people are shopping online the photo of the product is the first thing they see. And a good image helps give a customer an idea about what they are about to buy. So the better the image is the more likely they will buy it.
Now that you have a catchy name and a good look, it’s time to promote yourself. It will do you no good if no one knows you or knows where they can find you. This is where social media becomes your best friend. There are so many options out for you (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc) and to top it all off these platforms are all free. So use them to your advantage and put yourself and your products out there.
Selling on a marketplace is a great way to sell to more customers but it comes with more competition. But if you use these tips you can stand out from the crowd.
